what stores carry WORKHORSE 7 vho ballasts? I know where to get them online, I was wondering what stores had them, to avoid the shipping costs.

Shipping costs will be less than markup and taxes in most cases.
I got a WH 7 to my door for under $45 next day.

Very subtle differences which I dont know what they are but I am very pleased with my WH7. It has been mounted inside my canopy and fires 2x75w URI VHO every day for at least the last year and a half.
Good product for the right price.

They do . . . called a highhorse (if I remember correctly)
The ballasts are made by a company called "fulham" . . . . on their webpage they list dealer locations. I bet if you put some thought into it you could find their web page.

doesn't look like the high horses can run 175 Watt metal halides. i think that a workhorse 7 would run 2 110 watt VHO's. is this right?

aight.
I ordered my workhorses. What is the best VHO setup for two 220W workhorse 7's?
I would appreciate experience over theory here.

I have a workhorse 5 running PC lighting on my refugium. It does work well BUT a major downside is it (the ballast) interferes with all of my electronics (pH monitor, temp probe etc) my understanding is "noise" from all workhorse ballasts will do this although I only have the WH5.

I have noticed this as well . . . gotta be careful what electronics you use around it.
Do you know if it causes permanent damage though?

I am not aware of any permanant damage when using WH ballasts (nor have I had any in the years I have been running mine). I just have to remember when it is running and I look at the pH that 3.5-4.7 is a little low...LOL
