ok i have a 55gal tank and a 20-30gal sump/fuge and about 55 lbs of LR and was wanting about 10-20 lbs more and was wanting to rearrange my scaping a little bit and didnt want to leave them in the tank.. (afraid of dropping a rock on them or something) so would it be ok to put them in my sump for a few minutes or what...

Yeah, that prolly wouldnt do much damage, it might be a pain to get them out of there though, what I woudl do is just take some tank water out of your display (you're gonna have to anyway for therock), and then net the fisha nd put them in there until you have your rock the way yu want it. Then dump them back in.

all you have to do is go VERY SLOW and try to stir up the least amount of gunk as possible
they don't want to be smashed and will move as fast as THEY CAN to avoid from doing so.

yeah unless absolutley necissary i would leave them in there do the scaping very carefully. the fish will move out of the way and i would think trying to catch them twice and placed in the sump would be just as stressfull as leaving them in. I just added 30 pounds to my tank the other day. and i had no problems leaving them in.
now if you have some really agressive fish or venomous fish then again you may want to remove them.

why don't you just take some tank water, put it in a bucket, and put the fish in there while you rearrange your stuff....

once they figure out you're not feeding them, they move away. They might go towards your hand if they are expecting food.
