I just got a new light. I would consider it a moderate lighting system. I am wondering which Anemone I can get for a moderate lighting system and that is fairly hardy. I want one for my Clowns. The fixture is a T-5. N0ot sure how many watts but there are 2 bulbs. 1 actinic and 1 normal. Any suggestions?

IMO the hardiest hosting anemone is BTAs. They like being up high on the rock so it will be closer to the lights anyway. Without knowing total watts and tank size, still no gaurantee it will be enough light even it you feed it often.

i would say go with an LTA or a BTA. IMO these are the hardiest and least light damanding hosting anemones.

Ok thanks! I just ordered a BTA an hour ago! Any tips on acclimation? Where should I put it when I add it to my main tank? I have never had an anemone before, so I am lost.

Dont glue it! acclimate for around an hour, it may move to a new location, so watch any powerheads! Carrie

your rocks do not need to be glued, but you do need to make sure you can move any/all corals out of the way... it will take a few days for it to settle down most lilkely

Aproxamatly 220 watts minimum, I had pretty good succes with a 55 and 360 watts of VHO.
Feed meaty foods like mysis shrimp, krill, chopped cocktail shrimp, frozen plankton. Once or twice per week.

It will shrink and try to feed off of the xooxanthellae that lives withing it. Still if the photosynthisis isn't there then the zooxanthellae will begin to die and eject itself from the anemone, causing bleaching. You can try to feed it to obtain some nurishment, however it will still be a slow death without proper lighting. In the end we can all guess about lighting, but we do know more is usually better.

I see. Here is a pic. Hopefully he will live a long life, and maybe split later on! Here is a pic of him. He is about the size of a softball.
