Hey guys ! Hope all is well. I am looking to get both angels for my 175. But I am deciding on just getting one. So I was wondering, which one you think is more hardy-? My LFS, has an adult Emperor, about 5-6 long. He's been there for 2 months, eating and doing well. I was thinking of getting him. I wanted to do both, but the Queen's they get don't make it past a few days.
But the Emperor's last. So I guess the Queens are not strong or hardy-?

From my research, I vote Queen's as the hardiest.
And in a 175g just do 1 Large Angel.
Yeah, a queen is as hardy as any large angel; just don't get a big adult, they don't adapt nearly as well. There are emperors coming from Hawaii now and, IMO, are also very hardy fish.

Hey KJR, the Nitrates are at 20. I think because of my glass tops, were the reason my Nitrates were high too. I did have both side of the glasses cracked about an 1 1/2. But I might remove one side add add an eggcrate. But I am a little skeptical, because I am planning on getting an eel ,maybe a snowflake, and I scared he might jump. I don't know anything about eels, so I started a thread. My LFS are getting four Queens tomorrow, so I'll check them out

Nitrates at 20ppm are no problem at all for fish only; they can easily handle a much higher level.
Q: What do glass tops have to do with nitrates? Good luck with the queen!

i am voting to get an emperor just because i have one and he is begging his change right now lol
But the Queen is also beautiful thats a tuff decision!
I would say get the emperor in your fish store it obviously has been eating good and you said its been there for 2 months it must be pretty hardy. Have you ever tested your LFS water for nitratres??
I know a couple LFS that keep theres at almost 80 all the time.

I'd go with the emperor especially if it's eating and looks healthy. They're actually very hardy once they get used to captivity, and IMO they are the best looking angel, but of course everyone has their own opinion.

Hey, RCreations, nice Queen, how long do you have it-? Fisher, I thought with removing the glass tops, it gives the tank a better gas exchange. And also that, high Nitrates consumes oxygen-?
Hey, cafero and bioneck, thanks for the replies. I guess I'll decide tomorrow, I'll look at the Queens, that are coming in tomorrow, and if they don't look that good, I'll take the Emperor.
I took a peek at him today, he is doing well. They are truly beautiful and amazing to look at.

Wow Harley. That is amazing! How old is it? How large?
I've had her about 1yr and I'd say she is easily 8"+ and eats like a horse...Formula 1 & 2 pellets, Angel Formula spectrum pellets, nori sheets w/ Zoe &/Or Selcon on it, raw shrimp, Mysis shrimp, just about anything that hits the tanks she will eat.

Hey Harley ! Wow, what a beautiful angel, simply gorgeous. I just seen mine at the LFS, she is about 4 in. I wouldn't say Juvi, but looks like it just got the adult colors. The blue trim, is very bright. Harley, where do you buy the nori sheets-?
