if it is a 2 bulb fixture and u would like it more on the blue side then 1 Attinic and 1 50/50 that combo make it look like a coral reef.If it is a 4 bulb than 2 attinics and 2 50/50

ok, i would post a pic of my tank, but the file is too large, but does anyone have a pic of a tank with the blue tint of actinics or the reef stimulating lights ur talking about?

i would go 1 10,000 and 1 20,000.
plus i think that the lower the K rating the better it is because the bluer lights tend to reduce coral growth and health because it does not allow them to photosynthesize as much as they should be.
i would definatly not go more then 1actinic bulb. if you want the one actinic then get the other 10000k

20K=blue (with pc lighting skip it, not powerful enough. sometimes used with MH to get a blue look. even with MH corals grow slower)
10K=white/daylight (get it for one bulb replacement. best compromise for coral growth, looks and algae containment. 6500k looks dull in comparison)
actinic=420nm is true actinic sometimes called actinic 03
, although anything up to 460nm is sometimes sold as actinic. 420nm promotes coral pigments which protect them from harmful UV rays. 420nm looks purple and dull to the human eye. also promotes coraline growth. IMO current usa's dual actinic is the best choice. one side of the bulb is 420nm which is effective and one side is 460nm which looks absolutely GREAT when combined with a 10K bulb. 420nm alone wont add any noticable color to a 10K bulb of equal wattage, you only notice it with the other light out. do yourself a favor and get the current dual actinic. cost a little more than no name e gay bulbs (like $35 online) but worth it for looks. get it as your second bulb.
see the green mouths on the polyps, with just true 420nm and 10K bulb the green doesn't show at all. with the dual actinic it does

with just the dual actinic 420/460 bulb the whole center turns green except the rim. with just a 420nm the tank is still too dark to see much

50/50= just a combo of actinic and daylight. usually 420nm and 10K but you have to look at the specs. If your fixture only had one bulb or you never want to run the actinic and daylight bulbs seperately you could run 50/50 bulbs

that is correct on the 1rst and 2nd pic lighting (course the tank is much brighter than the 1rst pic, my photography was lacking). I usually run just the actinic from 8am til about 9am, then run both til about 6pm, then run just actinic again from 6pm til 9:30pm when I turn them all off.

do actinics run as moonlights ( i know a crazy question but like i said..i know NOTHING in this area lol)..b/c i want to get some moonlights for my tank but the atinics look like moonlights to me..i am sure they arent the same but..would it still be helpful to have some moonlights? i think they are nice

using actinics are moonlights arent a good idea. its like leaving 96w of lighting on 24/7. usually just leds are used as moonlights. you can buy moon light cheap.
