Which Clam....

My derasa is by far my favorite of my 3 clams... I have a crocea, maxima and derasa -- no contest with the derasa.

My derasa is around 5-6 inches... grown about 1 1/2 inches the last year... my maxima has had minimal growth in a year and a half.
What size tank is the new potential clam going in?

The 225g with metal halides....

Oh, my gold with green teal specs of a deresa has a much better color IMO than my purple maxima as well. Looks beatiful and has more of an open look to it as well.. but these are my opinions from having all 3 for over a year.

Sure, just keep the calcium up and if they are fed (which I don't feed mine) they can grow quite fast. Squasmosas can get huge from what I hear.

I like the maxima's also.
At the LFS people all gawk and goo over the squamy and the derasa, but I like the colors of the maxima...
