Which crabs?

Which crabs are the best for you clean up crew? Scarlet hermits or blue legged? Which one has a better temperment and won't eat coral?

ehh, blue legs are fine as well, i just don't like zebrah legged--they are the only hermits i KNOW killed my nass. snails.
all hermits will eat a dying coral btw, and they also will all walk over zoos, gsp, etc, and look like they are picking at them. in reality, they are just cleaning around the corals unless you see the coral getting eaten.

Well, I didn't order any...I just ordered snails...The package I wanted had like 75 blue legged, and I don't need that many...They will just kill the snails...I got 12 turbos, 4 fighting conches, 12 nerite, 12 chestnut turbos, 12 cerith, 12 nassarius. The only crab I ordered was an Emerald to eat a few bubble algae I have.

Hermits are ok if you really need something to clean up detritus and take care of dead snails you can't reach. Personally, though, I wouldn't keep many even if you decided to keep any.... just because they're usually more trouble than they're worth.

I have blue legs, and they're fine. Then again, I don't have any other inverts or corals in the tank.

Well, I have a few browned legged ones...and one huge blue one that came with my tank...So maybe I have 5. I just hope the snails will do good. Never had them.

i dont know how they have such a bad reputation... my nass. snails chase my hermits. as long as there are empty shells, the hermits should leave the snails alone.

The tank I have now is my second. I had one several years ago for a few years and I have had scarlets and blue legs and have had less trouble the scarlets. The tank I have now 46g and I have 5 scarlets, 1 blue leg, and 8 or so snails and so far no problems except these scarlets seem lazy.

I like my Scarlets. They spend most of the time on my LR. I barely see my blue legs. They seem to be hiding in the sand. Which is not a bad thing.
