im deciding which skimmer to go for, and its come done to these couple of choices...your advice is greatly appreciated, especially if you had one of these...thanks.
Aquarium Systems Seaclone Protein Skimmer - 100
OR
Aquarium Systems Seaclone Protein Skimmer - 150
OR
Red Sea Prizm Skimmer
since i wont be upgrading to a bigger tank in the coming years and this is my first tank to build and maintain, my choice would be the seaclone 100, not the 150, because it is much more bulkier etc.
but i wont about the red sea, and how it would perform compared to the seaclone 100.
thanks.

all the people ive talked to off the board and on have had issues with seaclones, even the guys at my LFS say not to buy seaclone (and they sell them) and one thing i know is dont skimp on your skimmer. you can get a remora for not a whole lot more than a seaclone.

It would be really helpful to know how big of a tank this is for, and do you plan on it being an in-sump, or hang on?

If you decide on HOB, I'd say buy an Aqua C Remora. No other skimmer can outperform it for tanks 75 gal and under.

2nd that from what I hear.
The SeaClone is a waste of money IMO. Some people have them and like them and run very successful tanks with them, personally I did not like mine and feel I was very ill-informed as to their capabilities when I got mine. They just don't seem to skim well enough for the way my tank is set up.
I finally got fed up with constantly adjusting / cleaning everything and getting hardly any skimmate. After a second

and selling myself into servitude on the black market I bought a Euro-Reef and couldn't be happier!
Cheers!

For that size tank, the CPR Bak Pak 2 or Bak Pak 2R would be perfect. Its what I have used on my 20 for over two years now.

I'ved owned a cpr bakpak and remora I would never pay $160 or whatever for a remora. The bakpak performs just as good if not better then the remora and you can pick one up off ---- for about $70..:D
