I have 2 clowns, 2 crabs and 6 snails so far...I'd like to add a royal gramma, foxface, yellow tang and maybe a firefish...whats the best order to put them in in?

You will get different opinions, but personally I'd skip both the Tang and Foxface in a 55.
Add skittish fish like Firefish early so they can get used to the tank and establish a home territory.

My LFS sold me a yellow tang to go in my 29 Gal tank with my green bird wrasse. Talk about over crowding. Tang was very skittish and hid anytime someone walked near the tank (for the 4 months he lived). I'd skip the yellow tang and get something more social.

As far as the royal gramma.. I have one ,and I must say they are a trip!!! He swims forward,backward,sideways..very unique breed of fish.He does tend to hide in the rockwork but when he does come out,it is something to see. Very good choice IMO.

Your in the same position I was in. I got a 55 gallon thinking I could add the yellow tang and found out my tank was too small. But just think, the foxface can get bigger than the tang. So I have decided to go with smaller fish with bigger personalities. So far I have a maroon clown and plan on adding a dwarf angel. I think the royal gramma would be a good fish, and a goby would be great too. Dont get upset with not having the tang or foxface. The smaller fish are just as much fun.

If you are planning on corals be wary of any Angels. You never know when one is going to take a liking to eating your corals.

No corals for now...we don't have the best lighting and I like chocolate chip stars so for now, no corals I don't think.
