OK I have a choice between going with a 36" Flourescent with an Atinic Blue and a Daylight bulb or go with a 36" 96watt PC with a 50/50 bulb. Which would you choose and why?

36" power compact 96 watt light because they have higher outputs and takes up less space. Also the bulbs last longer and the intensity and spectrum are better.
Hope This Helps,

Thanks for the info. I just found what I will probably buy from your suggestions. What do you guys think about this? Its a ESU
36" 192w double bulb strip. SQUARE pin power compact bulbs included.
I have a few questions here concerning this light. Will it get too hot since it does not have built in fans? And is 225.00 a good price for it?
Also with this light will I be limited to the number of corals that I can grow, or will it be sufficient in a 40 gallon to grow just about anything?

the pc lights should have little affect on your tank temp, just keep a close eye on it though and if it increases too much i think it is easy to instal some kind of fan to help. The light you will have will be good for shrooms, softies, and maybe a few of the lower light lps corals, no sps or clams thought.
"eddited"...the price sounds good for that set up, about what i would pay for a simillar model.

if you can do some DIY you can get the parts a little cheaper I put 220 pc on my 50 for around 224$ bulbs included. the heat is not an issue my heaters still come on all during the day. to keep the tank at 79 degrees.
with mine a keep a variety of all kinds of stuff. here is a list of what i have in the tank now that is doing well and growing some not as fast as others.
BTA
assorted zoanthid polyps
yellow colonial polyps
frogspawn
pulsing xenia
finger leather
colt leather
cabbage leather
hairy mushrooms brown and green
button plyps
flower rock anemone
a few different sponges
green and pink star polyps
blue shrooms
maroon shrooms
blastamussa
a few others I know i am missing
a couple of different SPS acropora and montipora growth rate is very slow and they are the top of the tank just unfer the water line.
just added ----
sun polyps
alvepora
hairy leather
pavona catus
glaxiea
most all of these are frags though.
some sort of white leather looking thing
here is a tank shot minus my colt cause I had to frag it down to nothing so the corner is chopped off really looks bad and I dont want to take a picture of it LOL
I am in the process of moving them to a 100 gallon for more room.

thanks
some corals do better than others but all in all I happy with the tank I had good coraline algae growth in the 30 gallon that it all started in and its just getting started in the 50 but its going to go into a 100 gallon soon but pc just wont cut it and be cost effective for that tank. but I am going to integrate them into the mix anyway LOL
