Ok so im settin up a 38 g cube like tank, and I am having trouble deciding between these two fixtures.
1.) Mini Pendant System - 150W 14000K+ HQI bulb made by phoenix....Fixture is made by sunlight supply

Description:
Metal halide lighting system complete with Reef Optix III Plus - 150W HQI Pendant, Blue Wave III MH Ballast: 1-150W HQI, and Phoenix 150W 14000K+ Double Ended Metal Halide Bulb.
2.) Coralife 14 k fixture hang on type

Description:
The Coralife Aqualight Advanced Series Hang-on Tank Mount Fixture is sleek, streamlined and versatile with three points of articulation for multiple lighting positions. The compact and low-profile style, designed with a heavy-duty mounting bracket, is suitable for applications where space is limited. It is equipped with a cooling fan, highly-polished aluminum reflector, protective HQI glass lens cover and ventilation grill. The fixture includes a 14,000K double-ended HQI metal halide lamp and external HQI remote ballast with an on/off switch.

for the first one u need some thing for it to go in or hang it, and u have to buy the ballast and fixture, the second one just atatches to the tank and comes with everything...i would go with coralife.

go with the sunlight supply, the reef optix reflector's are the best out there according to sanjay yoshi.Plus, sunlight supply's fixture's are sturdy and well made.
Personally, I think coralife's fixture's are very flimsy...I know I owned a few.

true well u can make a nice canopy for the tank to conceal it ..... but that can get hot inside without fans and a chiller
u can create some sort of L shaped perch to hang it from if its close to a wall
hmmm yeah it all depends on what ur lookin for

I just finished building a canpopy for this tank with plans that I was going to attatch a retro ficture, but that didnt work out. But if i put it in my canopy and had a couple fans would i necesarily need a chiller?

I'm just not a huge fan of coralife.
If your concerned about looks buy the coralife ,if you want quality get the sunlight supply
The coralife is a good entry Level Light.
compare warranty's, cost and go from there.
Don't forget there are alot of fixture's out there... shop around.

Well i really would prefer the sunlight supply i guess but i'm just about heat...it could end up being much more expensive if i have to buy a chiller...
