if your still open to suggestions about the type of fish to put in a 12 gallon...you can look into a rainford goby or a neon goby. both are beautiful fish.
I would get the Gramma over any goby. Grammas have much more personality and they perch on rocks and don't dig holes and hide all/most of the time. Much more personality.

I guess in the end if you can't decide,go with a pair of false percs(nemos)
Could I do two clownfish in there?
i would really recomend doing a fish or 2 that dont get big. that is why i suggested the rainford goby and the neon goby. they are both beautiful fish. look them up. false percs will get to 3-5 inches and are not well suited for a 12 gallon.
JMO...
your right...my apology...however a false perc can reach 4 inches in size given the correct care...and putting 2 fish that can reach 4 inches in a 12 gallon tank is not a good idea...that is why i suggested the fish that i did...they both stay very small...

Would it be because they don't have enough room to swim? What about the 1 inch per gallon rule?
I think that ratio is for fresh,in salt i believe its more like 3(gallons):1"(fish),but i honestly never seen false percs get that big.I've had mine for over a year and the one is 1.5,the other is about 2.The bigger one will assume female role, and the male stays pretty small, from what i understand.

I agree with you. I don't think many get bigger then 3 inches

Unfortunately the 1" per gallon doesn't apply in SW, only fresh. In SW I try to stick with closer to 1" per 5 gallons.
What about a firefish?

I don't agree with what you said. A fire fish gets 3 inches long, that would mean a 15 gallon tank. Something is not right in what you said?

wether you two choose to belive me or not is you opinion...if you do some real research then you will find out that false percs can grow up to 4 inches...and putting 2 of them in a 12 gallon should not happen...

And how many years old do they have to be to get to 4"? I have 2 that are over 2 years old and they are both still around 2".
