Ok guys its almost time for me to get a sump for my 150 gallon tank so im going to be looking to buy a good protein skimmer soon... I have a few that i am going to list and would like opinions on which skimmer you feel would work best... Here are my choices so far
1. Euro Reef RS protein skimmer
2. Red Sea Berlin 250 gallon skimmer HOB with pump
3. Coralife 220g super skimmer (no pump)
4 Kent Marine Nautilus TE 300 gallon skimmer (no pump)
I would like opinions from those of you who are experienced with using any of these skimmers... Im looking for one thats not hard to set up or maintain and one thats going to last a long time.. thanks

the ball valve mod, what does that do for the skimmer?
I did the GATE valve mod not the ball valve mod..
The gate valve mod lets me control the water level in the skimmer more precisly.

Turbo...I see you are a newer member around here....I also see that Dave ....AKA...SCSInet....answered your question. He is by FAR,one of the MOST educated/intelligent/informed (when it comes to aquarium stuff)...on these boards IMO. So if he said Euro Reef RS protein skimmer...I would go with that.
ANYBODY whos been around here for any length of time ALWAYS appreciates Daves input.

From what I've gathered, SWC, MSX, Octopus are all the same make.
If I'm wrong maybe someone can clear that up for both of us.
The model iFirefight posted is a DNW-200.
Search Google Shopping for "dnw-200 -ritchie"
(Some compass company called Ritchie has a compass with a model number "dnw-200", the last bit will exclude that from the results)

Yes, I have the DNW-200, It seems that there was some sort of conflict between the octopus name and the manufacturer or another company (maybe reef octopus)....Anyway my owners manual says mine is the same thing as Pacific coast imports 3000
,and I found that online it says mine is now manfactured by coralvue.
I cannot find my exact model anymore, seems like they have a new and improved version.

wow you guys must not get out much. every reef shop I've been to has a skimmer bigger twice that size usually running a tank or two. thats not even one of the "big" octopus recircs. but anyway out of the four options posted #1 by far.

I use the ORCA 200 on my 240 reef tank. It narrowed down to the Octo or the ORCA. I chose the ORCA due to its reputation.
