Which Salt to use?

I've been keeping African Cichlids for 15 years now and am interested in setting up a marine tank. There are many salt mixes on the market and would like to know which is best or what opinions you might have on some of them?

I use Instant Ocean myself....so far, so good!
BTW, I love frontosa's. One of the most impressive sights is an adult male frontosa in all his glory! :D
Oh yeah, WELCOME TO SALTWATERFISH!!!!! :D :) ;)

Instant Ocean works well for me, no problem yet. I wonder why Reef Crystals is more expensive though (at my LFS).
Hey LouNY, where do you get that IO bucket for $50 delivered? Please post. Thanks. :)

I actually use coral life. Perhaps I just like being different. I don't think there are alot of differences. I think the reef stuff is more because of their claims to have added all trace elements.

I started out years ago using Coralife. No luck. Switched to Reef Crystals. Algae problems. I now use Instant Ocean. Nothing but praise. They have been around for eons...Good luck in the SW Hobby

I too use Instant Ocean and have been very happy so far! There is another thread on here about how long to let your water sit after it is mixed. You might want to check it out as well. Good luck with the addition of a saltwater tank. Welcome aboard! :)

marine environment. works great. but from what i've read in other posts, once you find something that works for you, don't switch. each brand is a little bit different in chemistry, and for the little money that you save up front on salt costs will be lost when your livestock begins to die off due to the chemical difference. then you will be very
