Wooooooooohhh.......slow done there....Before you bring the seahorse home. What research have you done so far? Knowing your fish experience will help us help you. I find it much easier to answer specific questions(and I am more than happy to answer them as best I can), example~Which species is best for beginners?
This is my favorite dwarf seahorse, Titan:

Look forward to your questions

Is it interesting to watch? I want that's intertaining! I haven't done any research but I've been asking people and posting threads about it. But I'll do some today!!!

If you like tons of activity in the tank, seahorses aren't for you. While they gracefully swim from one hitch to another....and swim around the tank.... most of their day is spent hitched to something. They are not constantly swimming about the tank as other fish do.

No. They are a species only fish.
Please read these, I hope they help.

Seahorses are very delicate fish, and take a huge amount of time and care. Almost as much as a 2 year old child. So please, make sure you're 100% devoted for care and TLC, not for viewing entertainment.

Well said Rykna!
I'd say please wait, do your research and don't go for seahorses for the wrong reasons....

What do you mean wrong reasons? I just think they are adorable! I guess that could be a wrong reason too, but what were you reffering to?

I apologize, my response was a bit harsh.
I posted this some time ago...
I spent this past summer researching so much information about seahorses that (here I go again flaunting my superior knowledge ) I could take a graduate test for marine biology and ace it. But I did the research to ensure quality care for any future seahorses I might house.
Seahorses are the most unique fish I have ever had the pleasure of sharing my home with. I do not say keeping, because even though all fish have personalities, there is more to a seahorse. The intelligence that flickers in their eyes as they watch you, and the recognition and trust they form with you...takes them far beyond any fish I have ever kept.

There really is no "best" seahorse. It depends on your experience and knowledge in caring for seahorses and, most importantly, the level of commitment you are willing to make towards learning about them and caring for them. Seahorses take a lot of effort, but the effort is rewarded by a very smart, entertaining, and healthy pet.
All of us love new seahorse enthusiasts. I think we over caution due to all of our experiences, especially the bad ones. I lost all 41 of my dwarf seahorses in an hour, I wasn't able to
come online for two months without crying.
I have kept H. kuda (Black Seahorse), H. erectus(Lined Seahorse), and H. zosterae(Dwarf Seahorse). I have had the most success with ponies(dwarf seahorses).

I help best when given specific questions...
What size of tank did you have in mind? ~I keep my ponies in a 15g high. But their larger cousins need a tank twice the height of their adult length.
H. kuda is aprox. 8 inches when full grown. So you would need a tank at least 16 inches high, not counting the sand bed.
Do you currently have a tank running?
What size tanks do you have?
What kind of tank equipment do you have?
I could have you set up with a pony tank in a week.

This was my first pony tank set up:

Here's a video of baby Pearle:

Adult size:

Baby size:

New Baby:

They are absolutely adorable!!!! And I do talk baby talk to my ponies...they're so cute..yes they are!!! Ponies are my favorite seahorse to keep. I am currently cycling a 55 sump in preparation for setting up my 15g high again. I hope to have everything ready to go by christmas so Santa can fill my stocking with ponies!!!!

Most suggest Kuda, Riedi, or Erectus for "beginners". I started with Kuda, but have had the most success with my ponies. After all my blabbering
...I guess the first thing is for you to decide on which species you want to keep

I have a tank up and running right now. It is somewhere between 50 and 75 gallons, I'm not exactly sure though.

What are the dimensions in the tank (heigh/width/depth)? It's very easy to calculate what the size of your tank is. You will need that information if you ever need to dose your tank for any purpose.

Your pics are amazing....I think I may go with the bigger ones though. I think the little ones would get lost in my tank. Still trying to find live plants forthem though.

reidi kuda or erectus, all must be captive bred...keep water quality high and you'll be fine
also make sure they all eat frozen mysis shrimp before you buy them.

Thanks! I can't wait to get my DT set up again.
What kind of plants are you looking for? SWF has many choices of plants that seahorses love.
This would be the pack I'd buy here:

I actually have that pack on order with SWF now. I was trying to get fern grass and kelp, but they are still backordered. The salesperson suggested Gorgonians, so I ordered a red and a yellow. Hopefully the seahorses will hang onto them. Like I said before I have not yet ordered seahorses...still trying to get all my ducks in a row. What are good water parameters for seahorses?
