For a 55gallon, I am looking for a In-sump skimmer. I found several skimmers that are rated good..or at least the stores say they are :p
The current ones I'm looking at are
-Octopus NW-150 Needle Wheel Protein Skimmer
-ASM G-1 Protein Skimmer
-Remora AquaC Pro skimmer
Which one would you guys recommend? (I will be starting with a FOWLR for about a year then converting the setup to a Reef tank)

EuroReef. I just went through this. THe ASM is very similar at a lower price but the EuroReef is built better. Seems to be more durable.

Hmm they seem to cost $500 for the smallest one (RS-80). I can't afford such an expensive skimmer. I was looking for one under 250. :(

Out of the ones you are listing, I'd take ASM. If others are available, then definitely ER over ASM, but like you listed, the RS80 is a more $$.

I recommend the AquaC skimmers the Remora that you have listed though is a HOB model the in sump model is the AquaC Urchin Pro or you can go with the EV-120 for a little more money. I have never used their small skimmers (Urchin and Remora) I have read good reviews on them, but their EV series is excellent I have an EV-180 on my 55g and it is by far the best skimmer I have had.

Thanks for the quick replies ! I will probably go for the ASM G-1, Or should I get the G-2? It's only a 30 dollar difference and the recommended tank size increases by 2 folds!

the MSX is a little out of the budget listed, but would be a good choice.
Out of the 3 you listed, the octopus is the easy winner. Way better than the asm IMO. All cast acrylic instead of extruded and abs plastic. I am running the nw 150 on my 65 and it is awesome.

Hey just a quick update, I got the Euro Reef RS-100 !! Found one for 280 bucks. It was only 30 more than the ASM G-2 so I said why the heck not!
Thank you so much for the help and replies.
