Need help.
I woke up this morning to find white dots all over my maroon clown fish and my yellow tang. Seems odd because my other fish do not have anything. I also have another maroon clown fish but she is always in the anemone, coral beauty, a 3 striped damsel, and a golden head goby. I’m trying to post pictures but having some difficulty. Any ideas what could be wrong. I did a water change on Friday and all perameters were good. I have a 55 gal tank with 50lb live rock, LS, a bak-pak protein skimmer, a power head. 20 turbo snails, and 4 hermit crabs. My tank has been up for about 4 months and I have never had a problem please help

Looks like a bad case of ich to me. make sure to check out the FAQ thread in the Disease forum for treatments. Personnaly I have never tried hyposalinty before (from the FAQ thread), but it trully is the way to go. In the past I have done freshwater dips and used malacite green to treat along with garlic additive to the food. But the only true way of ridding your tank of ich is hyposalinty. HTH. Good luck, and sorry to see your fish in such bad shape.

I Have A Clown This Morning That Looked The Same Way, So I Will Be Setting Up A Quaratine Tank This Afternoon To Treat The Ick With Hypo, Although I Am Sure That I Have Ick Cause I Have Hippo Tang, And She Has Had It , Up Until Now My Cleaner Shrimp And My Uv Streilizer Have Controlled It But I Just Dont Want To Take The Chance Of Loosing My Fish. Good Luck.

cmiles,
When setting up a QT, how soon can you put your infected fish in? do you need to wait for the cycle??. I do not have a QT but will be heading to the LFS to purchase a QT and get it going. Was thinking of putting my inverts in the QT and lowering the salinity in my display tank. Just not sure If that will work

I Am Going To Use A Ten Gallon That I Have Already But My Lfs Told Me To Use Water Out Of My Existing Tank So I Dont Have To Cycle And He Told Me To Put Some Subtrate From My Tank To The Qt Also. This Way I Can Add The Fish Immediatly. This Is What I Was Told To Do Anyway.

ok that can help but please keep in mind, your tank will still not be cycled all the way , and you will need to monitor your levels closely, and when doing water changes make sure you add buffer to your RO change out water, or you could be in a world of hurt. make sure also that the water you add is oxygenated. ie airstone, powerhead. watch your levels closely....
