White blobs on live rock?

Last week I obtained a fully cycled, functional tank that was not maintained very well for the last few months. It has several fish (clown, cardinal, gobies). I'm trying to closely watch things as the tank "heals". I added some hermit crabs and a snail to help. I'm new to saltwater.
It has several hunks of live rock that have many abandoned worm tubes (I think they were dusters, but I haven't seen any yet). Last night I saw a couple white worms crawling out of holes once the lights were off.
What really has me curious is a whole bunch of little white puffy blobs that have formed on the live rock. Please excuse the expression, but they look like little blobs of white snot (1-2 mm). Any ideas? I haven't seen anything like this in photos anywhere.

Could be the Q-tip sponges. Hard to say at this point since they certainly haven't grown to that size or shape yet. Thanks for the tip.
