White circles on my tank's wall???

I did a diatoms scrap off my tanks wall and topped of the water early Tuesday morning. Well yesterday I clearly noticed these small white hard spots sporatically placed on the walls. When I looked a LOT closer, each one of them has a small brownish circular thing in them. Looks like the beginning of some kind of worm. Has anyone else had these before? I'm dying to know what they are and if they're beneficial or not.
Thanks!

Your reply really helped. I looked at the pictures in the thread attached and identified them as Spirorbid worms. I'll do my research on them and find out more about them. Thank you so much.
