White dusty looking material?

I used a turkey baster to feed a small orange coral that the LFS gave me to get started. When I blew on the brine shrimp a cloud of white dust blew up. I then looked close and saw that there was a lot all over the live rock. What is it? What should I do, if anything?

That is what it looks like, but how does it get up 12-15" to the top of the rock? I do not have any powerheads yet, Just flow from the two canister filters.

Should I keep it blown off? Will it effect the formation of coraline algae, which I think I should be trying to promote?
