white ribbon eel question

i am highly considering getting one of these and was wondering about it swimming out.....i have no top on my tank and i was wondering if i will need to put something on top or if it will be ok

with any eel you need a secure top and no holes or anything

+1 I considered a Eel, after much research one thing I learned about them is that not only will they get out but their escape artists. Any outlet, hole, or any way out and they will get out of the tank. Everything needs to be sealed.

Ribbon eels have very high mortality rates.

A lot of Eels won't try to escape as long as they're fed regularly and have places to hide. I wouldn't get a Ribbon Eel though, too likely to die.
