white sponge?

i am finally almost rid of my red algea .now i have a bright white substance growing on my lr.it is pretty hard but i can scrape it off .
any ideas?

White Sponges are very common. But They are soft with little pores here and there. Not hard...

its not that fuzzy.i tried to post a pis and it said my pic is too big and i have no idea how to shrink it.i have a friend that is a computer nerd i will ask him tonight.

I was just coming back to say the only other thing that come to mind would be that.. I am gone for the day...... Maybe someone can show you how to set up and use "Photobucket" today that will help.......

well i got the pics to photobucket and resized then now i cant figure out how to move them to this site.

Yup looks like dead coralline, probably under the algae problem your tank had. As the algae dies off and exposes the rock below the coralline is all bleached from being covered up away from the light. It will come back, not to worry here.

thanks half that rock is 15 years old and i never had this.i have had red alges before but not the bleaching.
the tank is a 150 gallon.
i only have the foxface,purple tang and a few small fish in it .
i ordered a phosphate reactor and i am building a fuge this weekend.
once the algea is just about under controll i will set up my qt and order some fish.

I have that in my 90 gal too, mostly in dimly lit areas and on the bottom of rocks. I think it is some type sponge.

it must be something like a sponge because some of my crabs have it on thier shells also.but the stuff is pretty hard.
