White Spots On Nemo!!!

I posted this on newbie board suggested I post here so here is the post
I get up for work on wednesday Turn onthe tank light like I always do and Look at my Tomato Clown. He has White fuzzy Spots all over him. He was not like that the night before. I go to work and Call BF to have him Check on tank he says the white spots are still on the clown told him to call LFS to see if they would know what they are. LFS said that clown is stressed out and it is a fungal infection ont catchy to other fish told him to buy some stuff to treat tank. He calls me back and I asked him if he reminded the LFS that I have crabs and a Starfish and Shrimp in the tank He said No. LFS mentioned that maybe something was picking on him. All I have for fish in there is a Foxface added with clown and 2 damsels 1 yellowtail and 1 blue. I have not seen anyone picking on each other.
When I get home the white Spots are all gone from the clown. and he now has a odd looking sheen to him almost metallic white in nature. And he was eating and swimming fine. So I get up this am and he still has that sheen and a couple of small white spots. I have to go to LFS today anyway so I am going to ask them about it but I am not sure I can dose tank with star fish etc in there.
I do not currently have a qt tank. I thought maybe If I bought a 10 gal and set it up but I would not have time to cycle it or anything. So i am in a dilemma here. Not sure what to do and I could use some advice.
UPDATE: Live Stock - 1 foxface, 1 Tomato Clown 1 blue Damsel 1 Yellowtail damsel. 1 brittle star, 1 sally lightfoot, 1 emerald crab, 1 cb shrimp 1 pepermint shrimp. Approx 25 hermits and snails (hard to count snails and hermits). tank size 65 gal with Live rock near 80 lbs I think. Emperor 400 HOB filter.
water readings SG 1.025, PH 8.2, Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 10
LFS Store said I could try and Freshwater Dip him. Read about that in Fenners book also. I am looking at buying a 10 gal tank kit (comes with filter, Hood, light) not sure if Im supposed to add live rock in QT Tank though
white Spots are all gone now but still has that sheen to him. He ate some today but keeps hiding alot.

A Little Bit like that. I cannot dose tank though because I have a Starfish and crabs in there. I do not have a qt tank but was thinking about buying a 10 gall kit from Walmart. Just don;t know how long I have to cycle a qt tank and if I have to add live rock etc to it.

I am NO experts but it sounds like Brooklynella (common in clown fish). From what I undertsand it is highly contagious. (Treat with Formalins with CARE). You may want to check out this thread from Beth.

I would suggest getting the QT tank ASAP. As for cycling the QT tank, you can seed it with current tank's filter (etc.), otherwise closely monitor the water and keep changing water to keep it clean during treatment. (Just IMO).

could I use some of the water from my display tankand some of the rock rubble that I have at the bottom. What do I do about the Foxface and 2 Damsels???????
I am freaking out now

If you are going to setup a QT tank, I would definitely use some of the water from display tank to make sure the fish is not too stressed out from this (just watch the water parameters very closely and change waters if needed). Make sure the water temp & pH are as constant as possible.
In my experience, this disease is contagious particularly to clown fish and I have not seen it spread to other type (I could be very WRONG here and/or just lucky), but separate the clown fish and treat him first. Stay calm!
As for treatment, you may want to read as much as you can on this. The treatment needs to be exact to kill the parasites but not the host.

I will be buying QT tank tomorrow Then Too Late here tonight. I tested my Water today and the sg is 1.025, ph 8.2 Ammonia Reads .25 (I have gotten this reading consistantly for over 6 weeks, Had water tested by LFS store and said ammonia was not elevated at all I think I have a odd test) Nitrite 0 and Nitrate 10. So I will Use this water for tank.
Need to take deep breath and try to think this through I am currently printing out the FAQs section here.

Besdies this thread is there a book on this subject. I have fenners book but it doesnt go into real detail about treatment etc

Have any of your fish had it? Do You know someone's clown that survived it?

I tried to get a picture of him but he kept hiding. So I don;t have a good picture. Showed to LFS and they did not seem to interested. The guy I usually talk to was not there.

I was in similar situation...I had one clown with Brooklynella before but I don't know anything about the disease then and I don't even have Formalin ready (my closest LFS do not carry it!). By the time I can get hold of it, it is too late for him (in a few days). None of my other fish were affected though. (Maybe I was lucky).
Do a Google search on Brooklynella and there are other links (1st few) where treatment was discussed (Sorry I don't think I can post the link here).
Whatever you do, treat him quickly.

Ok I tried to get some pictures of him but it is hard to see the white sheen on him. when I dropped in some formula 1 pellets he ate those. Would not eat any of the formula 2 frozen though I am confused because he was hiding alot but now he was out the whole time I was trying to take pictures and he ate today. I can see some small spots on his fins and he still has that white sheen. I tried to get a shot of both sides of him

Is the fish breathing hard? Brooklynella should be very distinctive in appearance and look EXACTLY like the pictures that our members were so kind to post up here.
Formalin bathes is the treatment for Brooklynella. The procedure is outlined in the FAQ Thread at the top of this forum.

Ok, I just noticed those pics. And yes the fish does look like he may have brooklynella. Proceed with the formalin treatments as outlined in the FAQ Thread. And hurry. Brook kills fast. You need to get started immediately.

I really don;t see him breathing hard. I just know he had white spots all over him wednesday morning about 5 am and when I got home from work at 8:30 pm the spots were gone and he had a sheen that was almost white metallic in color. He hid for most of the day yesterday and now he is out swimming around. I did notice that he kinda turns to the side when he swims almost like he is bending.

I have had the fish for 2 weeks today. the LFS had him for over 2 weeks according to the Date they had on tank that had arrival date. He was in with an amenome (SP?) but My tank is not set for amenomes. LFS said he would be fine without amenone. I was wondering if the stress of missing the amenone would cause this

The bathes do not require the fish to be in a QT. You bathe the fish for 45 mins in aerated water, then do this procedure every other day for 3-5 days. You can use a small rubbermaid container, as long as the water is aerated.
