white things with tails attatched to rock????

I looked in my q-tank yesterday and there were small white "pods" attached to the rock that I have in there. It looked as if they had small split tails and their head was stuck to the rock. They don't move and there are only a few on the gravel.
Are these the mysterious amphipods and copepods that I have heard about?

Sounds like the infamous Q tip sponge from the description. I don't know the proper name...
