For a post about not caring you people sure care enough to keep this thread going. As long as we all still love eachother whether we care if the person cares or not

This is by far the wierdest thread in along time. A thread about people not caring that has people caring enough to reply:thinking:
I may not be a smart man AARONE, but I know what caring is. I care for you SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOO much that it hurts me to think about not caring which is why I care to try to not care. This is so confusing. Maybe I am caring to much about this noncaring thread

you obviously didn't read that correctly, or don't have the capacity to understand.
shal·low
adj. shal·low·er, shal·low·est
Not intellectually deep; not profound; not penetrating deeply; simple; not wise or knowing; ignorant; superficial; as, a shallow mind; shallow learning.

holding a door open for a disabled person because you want to look good for other people makes you shallow.
holding a door open for a disabled person because they cannot do it themselves is called common courtesy.
there's a difference.

pretty sure we're all talking about caring about what people think about you, not just caring about things in general. :)

caring about how somebody feels has nothing to do with caring about how someone perceives you.

it's really not rocket science.
let me rephrase it so you can understand.
caring about whether someone is happy or whether someone is sad has nothing to do with caring about how someone sees you (whether they think you're stupid, ugly, an ass hole, friendly, etc. etc.)
caring for the well being of others does not mean that i give two sh*ts about whether they think i'm cool or not.

IMO you can't completely separate the two. Human psychological makeup (easily as complicated as rocket science) has placed traits within us to be accepted, respected, admired, liked, etc. and even to make others mad at us. You say you don't care what others think. Flip to the other side, someone is mean to you, you may do something back to them (sware, middle finger, etc.,) because you want to tick them off, because you care how they feel about you - you want them to be mad/hurt/angry at you. To be human is to care what others think of you. You may deny it or place it under another category (courtesy) but it is still lurking.
So far I have been discussing on a personal side. I don't know what you do for a living, but not caring what a strangers perception of you is would kill you in a business setting. Job interviews, new clients, customers, employees, etc. Reputation is everything in a lot of businesses. Sure you might get away with it for awhile but it would kill you in the end.

well, you see.. business is a whole different issue. on a personal level, i don't care, but when it comes to getting a paycheck, it's a different story.
then again, your opinion is yours and my opinion is mine. we're both obviously living just fine the way we are, so let's just continue doing so. :)

Cool. I was basically just trying to get a discussion going. I agree with alot of the points you made BTW, I just think things are a little more complicated in our motives and actions.
Oh and I am not polite just so people will think I'm a nice guy - my momma taught me better than that. I'm nice so Santa keeps me on the good list.

Not me....I think it is stupid going through life giving a dang about what another person thinks is cool or what is right.

Then why judge these people as living "stupidly" when you feel they should not judge your way of living?
Get over it every one has their own opinion.

These people have theirs as well......you feel they should live like you, and they feel you should live like them. This quote is a contradiction in itself. If you really truly didn't care, you would have never posted this to begin with.
This kind of reminds me how people get pierced, guys grow their hair long, tattoos.....whatever, and then proclaim themselves "different" when there are 5 million other people who do the exact same thing.
Perception IS reality. "You are what you pretend to be".
It's a fact that there will be very few days in anyones life where someone doesn't think badly of them for whatever reason, and it is true that you shouldn't care what those people think, but let's not go overboard. As a self proclaimed student of human nature, nothing you can ever say or do will make me believe you don't care at all what people think of you...even strangers.

Well its my opinion that every one should live life fairly care free and unpressured by other individuals...no one said they HAD to.
