Isn't the shelf life for blood something ridiculous like 42 days?
I was talking to one of my friends and had to leave to donate. He said, and I quote, "Donating is pointless, they don't need it and they don't use it."
Well if the shelf life is a little over a month, then obviously they need the blood.

Well, you guys inspired me. I donated for the first time today, even though I hate needles. I have a high pain tolerance, its just the mental thing I have to overcome. Anyway, it didn't hurt much at all. She hit the vein on the first try, but apparently wasn't quite deep enough. Filled half the bag and then it slowed down, and she had to keep messing with the needle. Between the interrogation, pre-testing, and donating, it took longer than I expected, but I will do it again.

Ya, it's a short amount of time. We keep track of all that stuff so that parents know when they are running out our their direct donor blood and can go re-donate. But we only direct donate for PRBCs... platelets are from you guys!

Yeah, it wasn't bad at all. After reading my post, interrogation might be a little harsh. They did ask a lot of questions though, and some pretty personal stuff.

Yeah. Here's my question. I was asked the, "Have you had --- with a man." What is the ladies equivalent to this question?
Are they asked, "Have you ever had --- with a woman," Are they asked, "Have you ever had --- with a man who has had --- with a man," or are they asked no equivalent?
