Who has a Remora with the maxi 1200

Right now I have my remora set up with the rio 800 but I want to change to the maxi 1200 but it doesn't seem to fit correctly. Could somebody please explain to me how to set it up. It seemed like the attachment that allowed me to use the air hose did not fit the piece on the remora.

You need the maxijet turbo venturi kit. It's basically just supposed to inject the air at the intake of the powerhead instead of the output so the impeller cuts up the air into smaller bubbles.

On the remora website it says not to use the venturi attachment. So does that mean that I'm not supposed to use the air intake hose?

The venturi attachment is the one that you first tried to use. The maxijet "turbo venturi" is what you're looking for.
The air must be injected before hitting the impeller so it can be chopped up into tiny bubbles. The venturi that comes with the maxijet that you tried to use does not bring air through the impeller, so the bubbles that it produces is way too big for a skimmer application.

I contaced Remora and this is what they had to say:
Thanks for the message, I can help you out. The Remora is not a venturi driven skimmer, so you don't need to use the venturi attachment. Doing so will decrease the amount of pressure the pump can deliver, which will affect the skimmer's performance. The only attachment I would use is the intake strainer, to prevent things from getting sucked into the pump. Otherwise, the pump should be used as it came out of the box. I guess that I had is set up wrong from the beginning. I thought because other skimmers need the air intake hose that the remora would as well.

I have a Remora with a maxi jet 1200 the best i ever had
you just need the maxi jet 1200 no air water goes in to the maxi and the water goes out to the remora

i have the urchin with the 1200. same design. no kits. nothing. just attach the tube to the "out" of the pump. easy-peasy lemon-squeezy.

you DO want to ditch that junk pump rio that comes with it and add the maxi or a mag. i used to gun a mag 7 on my remora pro and loved it.
