As a rule hairy crabs are usually not a good thing, If that was in my tank and I had otherwise healthy livestock disappearing he would be my number one suspect.

just look at his claws that is the easiest way of telling. I do not see how hair could make him agressive ecspecially due to the fact that emerald crabs which are found in most reef tanks have "hair" on their legs. Agressive crabs typically have sharp pointed claws where as the nonagressive ones tend to have more rounded or even flat claws.
