Found out the hard way 2 days ago. Cutting a piece of Acrillic for a DIY fuge/sump. Good thing it was a new blade in the utility knife.

It was only hanging on by a small piece of skin. It never hurt though. The doc said I severed the nerve. I cant feel anything past the injury site.

i am just starting to build a DIY stand for my new 75, now u really got me thinking whether its worth saving a $100 and cutting fingers off?

Only 5, 1 for every hour at the E.R.
I've decieded to buy pre cut pieces from now on. I have since found out that there is a shop locally that cuts as you wait for $2.37 sf. Way cheaper than ER visit plus several doctor follow ups.

Cuts happen, they are pretty normal...BUT the one with a camera to get a pic of the stitches, then post them on-line!!! Now, that's a TRUE fish-aholic!!!!

We were building a shed in my backyard last summer, and my brother the carpenter is cutting a piece of wood and decides he doesn't need to use the saw horse or anything. It was just a small piece, so he's holding it in one hand and using the circular saw in the other, and zip, got his finger good. No stitches, but he turned a nice shade of white. He hurts himself all the time though.

Here's where a drill bit attacked me. I was drilling into the underside of a gooseneck (on a stair rail) and the bit rolled off the rail, grabbed my shirt and tried to eat me!!!
The light one is the day it happened, and the darker is the next day...

This is the best pic I could take of myself by myself.
I bought a large green star polyp rock from SWF.com 2 weeks ago.
I reached in to take it out of the bag and felt something brush my arm.
I figured maybe was the polyps? But these don't come out in the dark and it was in a black bag.
As I put the rock in the tank, my arm started to burn like an acid burn.
I took my arm out of the tank and look! Even after 2 weeks!
Nice rash and inflamed.
Do you think the coral did this or do you suppose maybe a bristle worm??? I don't know.
Certainly a hazard of this hobby I was unaware of.... any thoughts?

I think your allergic to whatever's on those polyps!! But you didn't have to do all THAT just to participate in the thread!!

That looks like a Milleopora (Fire Coral) burn. Are there any spots on the rock that resemble a "beige/khaki coralline algae" (made up for visual)? Can I see pics of polyps from different angles?
Do a google image search on "fire coral"

These are pictures of the coral after lights are off and the are retracted.
I'll check again tomorrow when lights go on.
I did do search on google for fire coral. I don't know as I have seen any of that.
I'll look closely tomorrow. However I did see a pic of a man after 2 weeks of being stung by fire coral and it does look similar. It didn't start itching either for 2 weeks.
Funny what you'll do to post to hook on to a thread, huh!!! LOL!
I circled on one of these pic's a tube that is different on this rock. I haven't seen anything come out of it. Also, I haven't touched this coral since I put it in the tank. Afraid to look underneath! LOL!
