Who uses a glass top?

I still use a glass top on my 20 gallon tank
1. Because I have a firefish, and though he has'nt tried to jump in a long time, he did jump the 2nd day I got him without the top in place and went carpet surfing (he survived the ordeal though).
2. Because I've got a DIY canopy, with all the lights in it, and though it has an open back, Im rather concerned about mildew in the canopy and rotting it out, along with moisture entering the electrics of the lights as it evaporates.
I do however have a 2" gap on the back of the tank to let some evaporation occur
