i was originally diagnosed w/ being allergic to bee wasp and hornet venom but when i had bee testing i tested out negative so the bee allergy was wiped off my board

well i was stung but i didnt have a near death experience, from the statistics ive read near death is only if u get the spines stuck in u which is i remember is quite hard since deaths from lionfish stings r less that 1% but still in theory possible. i am really sry that i caused such a muck among these boards

I reasearched and found that lion envenomations have never had 1 doctumated case of death. And that it is rare to come in a near death expirience with one. Jon u might want to lay of the jokes for awhile and stop buying venomeous fish.

I've worked with lionfish - many, in very small systems- for years and never been stung. Nor would I avoid keeping lionfish...most people probably do not know if they are allergic to bees, wasps, etc. Simply because things are venemous, does not mean that the venoms are in any way related. I guarantee that you can be fine with bees and wasps, and be severely allergic to a lionfish or vice versa.
However, I have to agree that these are not the best fish for minors to keep.
And Sharkboy13, no, I don't appreciate the joke. I was very tempted to delete this waste of time and space
but maybe it should stay.
Remember about the boy who cried wolf, however.
as you stated though you have never been stung to know for sure what reaction you may have to the venum ,i personally have been lucky also and very careful myself not have been stung ever by mine.i am simply quoting what i have read when it comes to allergic reactions to these types of stings.although i have no allergies to bee stings ect i still dont want be stung by a venomous fish just to find out.

I was stung by my lionfish 2 times, the first time nothing happen and the second my finger got swollen for almost a whole month, now is better and didn't need to go to doctor.
But when I was little I got stung by a wasp, and I went to the doctor because it hurt like crazy, but go figure the different reaction I get from different stings...... :notsure:

Sharkboy I am going to go ahead and lock this thread now I think you have had enough toture for now.
but you see how some things really get the marine community in an uproar Please be cautious of these types of posts in the future. A lot of us that take the hobby seriously have gotten alot of flak for keeping critters like this and in some places they have passed laws restricting ownership of certain species for this reason and its not a comforting though that one person can change the hobby as whole and not in a good way because their irresponsible actions.
