Oh and everyone has some form of gingivitis in case you guys were wondering. They told me that too and I freaked out because I am crazy anal retentive about my teeth but I had more than one dentist tell me most people have gingivitis slightly before their teeth even fully come in (adult). You just don't want it to progress beyond the first or second stage.
Not entirely true, 80% of the population has is, but even if you have it needs to be kept under control. Gingivitis is an infection and is in your bloodstream, so it can cause other nasty things like premature birth, heart disease, diabetes.
So those who haven't been for a while, get your fannies to the dentist and get healthy

I've never been afraid until my dentist said my teeth are fine but my gums have to come out.

I too look like I've just come out of the hills. And well, haven't been to the dentist in years.
Personally i'd leave them in. I had one, they had difficulty pulling. They sawed it in half, when I came of of there, I had a swoosh imprinted on my forehead.
Oh geez now I'm really scared!

Dont listen to them, I've worked in dentistry for 30+ years, it will be fine. They will give you pain meds to take when you get home, I recommend taking them while you are still numb that way the pain doesn't get a chance to settle in. You might be sore and swollen for a little while but you will be fine.

Love the dentist... teeth feel awesome breath feels fresher... I dont like fillings but I cant complain I only have 2 real ones and 2 small surface ones, they needed no Novocain for those.

Plus in all reality, I reactioned to the codine, it worked, but when I came down, I had a worse headache than I did from the tooth pain. Plus I was overcome from nausia. Imagine having your teeth ripped out, so you have giant holes in your mouth, then taking meds that make you puke, which burns like heck on your stitches.

i went to a dentist that was REALLY old school as a child (4 to 9)... he would whip the back of my hand with a leather strap if i acted nervous about the needle or said it hurt or cried cuz he hit a nerve with the drill that he didnt deaden well enough ... after he retired i didnt go to the dentist from 9-10 to about 21... i was petrified of the dentist!!! but now i am alright with the them... thank goodness for laughing gas!!! i had a root canal last year and it didnt phase me... went to get my teeth cleaned a few mos ago and didnt even get a butterfly in my stomach...

I must admit that being married to the office manager of a dental practice (Jeanheckle), it's great getting almost free dental care! However, I still don't like the drill!

Shoot me! Stab me! Stick me with needles. I can deal with those. But has anyone else out there been to a military dentist??? Rookies! And we're their guinea pigs! Had my wisdom teeth pulled early in my career and made a vow to keep my teeth in shape so the dentist would never touch them again. I succeeded in that and my teeth are pristine. Lots of compliments, especially from the dental hygienist during my yearly teeth cleaning. I'm just glad I never had to get braces!!! Ouch!

So when I get my wisdoms out in December, what can I eat and how long before I can eat normally/talk/have no pain?
I don't like yogurt or jello...
