Who's hosting who?

Does the clown host the anemone, or does the anemone host the clown? I am hearing it both ways.

The anemone is the host ( noun )
The anemone host the clown ( verb )

well im thinking, if youre at someones house, theyre the host. so i guess the anemone hosts the clown.

This is what I thought is correct, yet I see a lot of people talking about their clown hosting this or that.
