Who's using a SCWD?

Switching Current Water Directors are becoming more and more popular in the hobby. I'm just curious as to who has starting using a SCWD and how you like it.
I am thinking of ordering one for myself and powering it with a Velocity T1 pump........I already have the pump and I think it would be a great combo.

I'm not currently using them...but I have heard lots of positive feedback about them and may order a couple early next year. I like the random current that they will generate....and they seem fairly low maintenance. I'm interested in hearing what folks have to say about them myself.

For those of you who "Might" know something about SCWDs...;)
How have they preformed on the long haul...as far as maintenance, cleaning, consistency of opperation...
Are they like the Power Sweep PHs that last a couple weeks and need constant cleaning before they just finally quit working?
Do they build up crud and junk and get stuck easily or are they pretty much maintenance free?

I thought Mag drive was "the"pump to have?
Who makes the T1?

Is it possible to use a submersible pump on this scwd? I see al of you running it outside the sump etc, but is it possible to run with an in sump pump. I was thinking of doing it but all I have is pumps that should be submersed. Any help with this would be appreciated.

I dont know if they would od the same thing, but aquarium systems/marine land is putting out a power strip for power heads exclusively that causes the electric flow change over a set amount of time. this causes some power heads to be on, some off then switch or do something else. They arent out yet to my knowledge but if you use multiple ph u may want to try this.

can't you do the same thing with a make then break syphon like in the tetra tech HOB filters?

Two different principles - the tetra tec (which I have on the 20) is a water fill - create siphon - then surge out one port with a constant out the main port
The SCWD is an alternating current truly - slowly increases speed and builds then switches to the other out put and slowly increases
I use one on the 140 I have and have been running it for about 5 or 6 months now with no hiccups. I have it hooked to a mag12 sump return .... very nice current addition ....

These things are more like a carlson surge device if you want to check out a cool surge option ....

Thanks Kipass I was thinking of running it from the
return pump and just have one pump from the sump leading to the scwd that then leads to the main tank. I think I will get one and give it a try once I get my new systems set up. I am thinking of doing an entertainment room with multiple aquariums around the room. Thanks guys any other suggestions on setting up the scwd before I buy
