why are people typing bump?

why are people typing bump? its kind of annoying

they do it because lets say they asked a question and no one has answered it yet. So they will type "bump" in the reply to bring the thread back to the top of the forum

I've notive alot of times a thread being bumped after 30 minutes...WAY too excessive...
