Why did my cleaner shrimp die? JEEEEEEEZ

Got a cleaner shrimp from the LFS for 20 bucks. Acclimated him for about an hour and a half, then put him in. He was dead within 24 hours.
Amm - 0
Nitrate/Nitrite - both 0
PH 8.2
Temp 79
100lbs of live rock
100lbs of live sand
Have a damsel, 3 green reef chromis, 2 sally's, 1 blenny

are you sure he is dead. cleaner shrimp have the ability to molt. usually when they are introduced into a new enviroment the will shed and then hide until the feel safe again. look around for him in the tank he might still be in there.

if he is dead check your specific gravity they are very sensitive to sg changes. Also what am3gross said they can molt. It is also possible that the damsels killed it there are alot of variables

Hmmm i agree with what the other s say as possibilities.
I wonder if you tank was once a fresh water tank, was it ever treated with copper?
You should test for copper too!

PH/ALK swings could have a dramatic effect on inverts.....

Also check the copper as posted before me, when inverts die water quality is usually first suspect!!! :thinking:

WHAT KIND OF DAMSEL DO YOU HAVE. I HAD A SARGENT MAJOR THAT GOT A HOLD OF A CLEANER AND A FIRE SHRIMP. TALK ABOUT A WASTE OF MONEY ! HE WENT TO THE QT AND THEN TO THE LFS!
