Man I lived in houston for over a decade... You need to learn ALTERNATE ROUTES... which is the same for ALL big cities. Don't make it a point to get on I10 or I45 near downtown at damn 4pm trying to get to Katy in 5minutes.

dude, the alternate routes are clogged too these days. I live off of 290, it is probably the most congested part of houston now. Fortunately I live about 5 minutes from work. But try to go somewhere after work you've might as well just wait till seven.

Speaking from the bikes point of view....
Splitting lanes IS legal.
Moving in to cut me off or do the fake open-the-door scare move and you get your mirror knocked off or a door kicked in.
I agree that people on bikes that cut to the front but then are slow to take off make us all look bad.
I actually move over to give you guys more room. Most are very appreciative and give a wave.

Because people do it as a joke when in reality even a 10mph crash could end your life on a motorcycle. Drivers get hostile for all sorts of reasons towards motorcycles. Jealousy, having a bad day, or even just general distaste for motorcycle riders.
Usually you can see it coming and avoid the situations but it is always a serious situation for the rider. I ride both evasive and agressive at same time.
I hold my line but always scan for the way out in case things go south. It is a completly different view of the road when your on a motorcycle.

But why not? then you could sue the biker!

Why not? Because I used to own a bike (and want another one - just can't convince myself I need it) and it would make for a very bad day for everyone involved. (I know you are joking
)
I never split lanes when I rode. I always felt that whatever unjustified anger or resentment other drivers might have for motorcyclists would only be increased if I drove between them to get to the head of the line that we were all sitting in. Just doesn't seem equitable.
Just my two cents

Take Care
