Why do you choose to be here vs. another site?

I've been on several different forums from local to world wide. SWF is my "home" forum.
I may not post as much as others, but I'm always here reading and watching other reefers tanks come to life. I don't know specifically why I prefer SWF over any other, comfort maybe? Or just too stubborn to change

Anyone else??????

sense of community. there are the people that come and go, but there is also the group that has stuck around for a long time and its kind of like we all "know" eachother a little.

Im here because of the amount of people here, threads seem to flow at a nice rate, and also the people here are VERY helpful and not jerks like some other people have met.
Also, i love being around fish nerds like myself!!!

like alot of people i also think the people are alot nicer and it is a smaller comunity so you almost "know" every member. its like being in a town vs. being in a city.

I like SWF.com. At another message board I go to, I have a lot of "friends", but it gets so nasty when they talk about politics (especially them dems!!!
). The people here are so friendly and I don't see the hatefulness here, like I see there sometimes.
And I get to learn a thing or two about the fishies here and see some beautiful tanks come to life.
Obviously, everyone here is more laid back and happy.... must be because of our hobby!

I just like it here. I do frequent of course our reef club forum, but I just don't want to start over again somewhere else and basically post the same stuff there too. When I want a more specific or technical answer I do post it our reef club first. It's a very small group and very advanced users. I get a reliable answer very fast. I like to goof off here :)

I have tried other sites, but always come back to swf.com.
I like how you almost know people.
There really arn't "groups" here, like on others.

the sense of community between most of the members. I cant seem to get hooked on other forums though have participated in some, they just dont draw me in in anyway. its like on other forums disagreeing with some one is seen as a personal atttack every time, on here its usually seen for what it is a difference in opinions, not always but more often than not. I love debating and exchanging views and different tecniques, as well as of course when in non agreement on a subject throwing facts back and forth with the member untill either a resolution is reached or an agreement to disagree. I have to say I do my hardest research to prove or disprove myself. (I have proven myself wrong more than once and will probably continue to do so for the rest of eternity)

The other board I am a member of is very nasty, and never answer any of my questions. The people here are much nicer and freindlier

For one the mods are dillegent in keeping filth and bashing off of here keeping it a family oriented site where you wouldn't be embarassed to have your children veiw the threads. Inapropriate language is filtered out and this is a plus. There is one site where you don't even have to read any threads, just look at what is allowed as an avatar to know you don't want your kids there.
Another is there doesn't seem to be any cliques of people that don't allow others to join them, once again, something that happens big time on a few other sites I know of. All are welcomed and invited in it seems.
When bashing does happen I notice others step in to correct it and put the thread back on track enlightening the eyes of the basher to what they have done (with the exception of reefkprZ that is-we just allow him to argue his heart out-kding). Course, that all just goes back to how the foundation of how the site is run.

Oh! And the more advanced reef-keepers are only there in NC? Only goofy people here you are saying?

Not to change the thread, but how is the tank recovering? I haven't really seen much about after the temp issue and the losses. Any plans to get another bluespot?
