Why do you choose to be here vs. another site?

The people here are great and I can pretty much always get a good answer to a question. Much nicer forum than some of the others out there.

Oh! And the more advanced reef-keepers are only there in NC? Only goofy people here you are saying?

Mike!
You know what I mean
What I meant is that for really techy and quick answers I go for our club. Here you may get a few good techy answers and the rest are just gooffing off. Don't tell me you haven't noticed that?

I used to post on a nano-reef forum. The members there had awesome tanks, but most of the people were soooooo immature and annoying.... you couldn't even tell who the moderators were because they were just as immature lol There were some cool people there too, but the annoying people drove me away.

SWF is the best!

I just like it here. I do frequent of course our reef club forum, but I just don't want to start over again somewhere else and basically post the same stuff there too. When I want a more specific or technical answer I do post it our reef club first. It's a very small group and very advanced users. I get a reliable answer very fast. I like to goof off here :)
I agree with this. I come here for entertainment. When I need some more advanced answers I get better results from other sources. My only criticism of this site is that when I have a question other than "Is my cycle done? Am I overstocked? or How do I treat ich?", I often hear only crickets.

I tend to agree, I usually ask in a pm to the person I think would give me the most accurate answer.

PM in most cases is the best way to get info. I get questions a few times a week of areas that I sometimes know about

on big forums *cough*reefcentral*cough* i can never find my threads.
people also seem nicer here
I agree, -- is just too big. There are a lot of egotistical people there, but there are some people who are very knowledgable.
People are friendlier here, especially with noobs. They also are more appreciative of sub-par photography skills here (not so much with my other thread over there
)

Thanks for this thread. It is interesting to get everyone's views. We've trying to make this site great for everyone here, grow with the hobby, and keep a sense of community.
We'll shake out the Forums in a week or so once things settle down.
In the meantime, check out the new blog feature that is now available to members.

i love how people on this site dont hold grudges. you can go back and forth with someone all day about abortion or politics or something but if you post a thread needing help 9 times out of 10 that same person will have no problem helping you out. shows a lot of maturity, and like others have mentioned, a lot of other boards dont have that.

+1

I like this site because there is a real sense of "community" here. I come here to be inspired, share and learn.
I love this little "community"....

Not to change the thread, but how is the tank recovering? I haven't really seen much about after the temp issue and the losses. Any plans to get another bluespot?
When I have some extra time I'll post a picture of what was lost. I'm sure of another bluespot in the future. It's hard enough to find one, and even harder to find a healthy specimen. The colonies that made it through the temp crash have been recovering well. My only losses were sps frags and colonies. I have several small zoo colonies that seem to be unphased.

Just glad it didn't dampen your spirits to the point of getting out. I had a tank crash after I first got into it back in the early 90s and dropped out for a couple years. Glad you are recovering.

SWF was way easier to get around before the new addition of all these sections IMHO.
I do like how the forums are set up here though. Way easier to navigate than --. But I must admit, I may be spending equal time between the 2 sites in the future. Kinda nice how -- has localized club forums included.
Jus' sayin'.

Justin, the store up here (FAOIS) has the BS jaws on a fairly regular basis. And I can personally say they won't be sold unless doing good.
Let me know, bro.
