Why doesn't my skimmer skim anything??

Tank has been up and running for about 6 months. The skimmer was working great and I had to empty the cup at least once a week, getting real dark green gunk. Haven't changed a thing, and now all I get a little bit of light color water. It doesn't seem possible that there isn't anything to skim, but I can't figure out what might have changed. Any ideas?

What kind of bio load do you have

I have 9 fish (mostly small)and the tank is 137 gallons. I think we just figured out the problem. The skimmer is run by a Rio pump and it wasn't working at full speed. We took it out and ran it in the sink and is started running at full power!
Now it's back in the sump and the skimmer is getting frothy looking again. Guess I'll buy a new pump.
