Why has the $$ of shrimp gone up

I went to the lfs today and the prices of shrimp were terrible.
For scarlet cleaner shrimp was $23.
For a blood shrimp was $34.
What is going on.
Coral is so cheep compared to it.
I bought a fist size rock with some xenia on it and another rock with two sponges, two leather corals and and a crap load of mushrooms for only $58.77.
The price of shrimp is unbelievable around here the average fish it only $14.

No I did not get into this hobby because I thought it was cheap.
When I bought my cleaner shrimp about 2 yrs ago it was $12. I had gotten it at ***** and they are usually expensive.
My shrimp recently died and I went to price out a new one and was shocked.
Peppermint shrimp though were only $3.95. That seems to be lower than usual.

Up here in Canada we pay $35 canadian for a skunk cleaner and $50 canadian for a blood shrimp, and $12 for peppermints.
$35CAN = $22USA
$50CAN = $31USA
$12CAN = $8USA

i just got a fire shrimp 2 days ago for $30. My 2 skunk cleaners were $22 each. my cbs was only $7. The reason that fire shrimp are so expensive is because they are hard to find. They live in deep waters and the color red isn't in the spectrum that far deep. Hense why they are red. In the deep waters they actually appear black. He is the only shrimp that hides during the day all of the others are usually out and about.

Jeez. My LFS has scarlets for 35 bucks and bloods for 45... On a better note, the guy actually cares and I have never, ever had a casualty from his store.
