Why I always fly SouthWest Airlines when at all possible

My wife had a flight from DFW to Corpus for tomorrow. Typically I buy the airplane tickets. However this time she did. So she decided to fly American Airlines instead of Southwest. Anyway, her grandpa died and she wanted to see what options she had as far as moving the ticket, or refunding it or whatnot. They basically told her, to do anything they'd charge her 150 bucks. And that it would be cheaper to just buy another ticket from American Airlines... They didn't care who died because it wasn't their fault...

I had to fly to NY 2 years ago for a death in the family, and was told that airlines did not discount for that anymore

oh we'd already purchased a ticket, we just needed to move it back a couple days... So she could go to the service. They said any changes get charged 150 dollar fee... No matter what. IF only they knew we make that flight probably twice a month. And they'll never get that business again...

Their policy makes sense, anything happens we'll let you move a ticket, no matter what at no extra charge. The catch ends up being the ticket prices are higher if you're booking for a flight that day.
SO, there is no fee...you just pay the difference in the cost for the ticket

yep

I fly SW all the time with work, if you make a change within 24 hours of purchasing the ticket there is no charge even if the ticket is a higher price. I really like SW and fly with them when ever I can.

Once I had a brain fart and purchased my standard flight from Corpus to Dallas. The only thing was I was in Houston. So I show up at the airport that evening, for my flight, they look at me, ask me if I know where I'm at... Kinda laughing, and pointed out that I wasn't in corpus but Houston. The ticket ended up being cheaper so they ended up giving me money. To change a ticket 10 minutes before boarding. If that had been AA I'd a been out 150 bucks...
