Why Is It So Hard To Get A Flourescent Hood For My 40 gal. Breeder Tank?

Can anyone give me suggestions on how to get a Flourescent Hood for my 40 gal. Breeder Tank? I had no idea how hard it would be to get a hood for it. The "new" Aqueon hood and cover don't work. The hood doesn't function and the cover only covers about 2/3 of the top of the tank! Yet the tank is the same brand!

We don’t usually use full hoods because they can inhibit O2 transfer. A 40 breeder is a standard size, The dimensions of the tanks haven’t changed, I suspect the hood you have was mislabeled and is for a different size tank, most likely a 29 gallon.

I like the look of hoods. Since I build my own stands (I like them to be tall stands so the fish are at eye level). I build matching hoods. My hoods are tall and open on top. I don’t use a standard light fixture because I need more light for coral.
