Why is my tank Cloudy

Any suggestions to why my tank may be a little cloudy when you look at it. Tank size is 55 gallons. It has been running up for 2.5 months. I have 50 lbs of liverock and 14 lbs of livesand. 84 lbs of sand. 3 powerheads and a 350 penguin biowheel. I don't really have a big cleaner crew yet so I have lots and lots if detritus. I have niger trigger, a snowflake eel and some sort of wrasse. There also seems to be lots of micro bubbles in the tank.

Maybe something is getting kicked up from your sump. Also, powerheads sometimes slide down or move and start aiming their current at the sand, even if it is at a distance. Maybe your fish are moving the sand around.

I don't have a sump and it has nothing to do with my fish. Its seems like the tank never clears up. Lots of microbubbles and detritus and like this film on top of the surface. Like its a build up of proteins.

Bio-wheels are not a good idea for a sw tank. The build up you see on the surface is protein..do you have a protein skimmer? The micro-bubbles could be making it look cloudy..and most likely are coming from the over-abundance of nutrients in the water. It could also be a free floating algae bloom. I would recommend that you begin testing for nitrites, nitrates and phosphates. A clean up crew would help to a degree..but in all honesty your tank does'nt sound like a proper set-up..especially for messy aggressive fish.

I have a Red Sea Prizm Skimmer Deluxe on my tank.
What kind of setup do you reccomend? And would this cloudiness affect my coraline algae?
