Why My Snails are dying

My snails are starting to die at a fast pace. I've had two Turbo's and a variety of other snails start dying. Is something in my water causing this? My ph is a little high at 8.8? My calcium also may be a little although I may be doing the test wrong.

i would think it's because your high Ph. also i for one hate Calcium test. huge PITA if you ask me. they need to make those things easier and faster to do.

turbo snails, at leats i have found are not terribly hardy, yes your ph is a tad high but i dont think that would do it. DO you have any hermits? They tend to be sensitive to nitrates. What are ur parameters?

I do have hermits, but I bought numerous shells that they can use. My Nitrate, Nitrite, Ammonia are all zero. My PH is 8.8. My SG is 1.025

Have you tested for stray voltage recently? My aunt just had a major issue with voltage in her tank, and the snails were the first things to kick the bucket.

Do you use RODI water? I was told that tap water may contain traces of copper and over a period of time it can build up to a troublesome level. Another idea is a problem I had when I started my 33G a gorrilla crab hitchhiked into my tank and was killing my snails I lost about 8 snails before I found him.

Snails are very sensitive to rapid swings in water parameters. Are you experiencing more than a 2 degree F fluctuation in temperature in aa 24 hour period? This is common when you have strong lighting.
What kind of water are you using for topoff?
Did you switch brands of salt mix?
What is your calcium, alkalinity, magnesium?

I have not tested Alk, I need to get an Alk and Magnesium test. I use RO water for Topoff and have not switched salts. My temperature fluctuates around 2 degrees per day. I have T5 HO lighting.
