It all comes down to what your going to use it for. I dont see much purpose in gaming with a laptop, so I would just spend money on a desktop. But yes alianware does make nice machines, I just feel they are overpriced. But if your happy with it who am I to tell you otherwise.
Best Buy had a duel core AMD with a gig of ram and 200 gig HD for $820. Wish i had the cash on hand to buy it.
Sure i could build a desktop that is just as powerful... but the reason im getting a laptop is because i need something portable for school.
Just because it is built with gaming in mind (imo that is the most demanding of the applications along with video editing) but it just means it is a top tier machine. Doesnt fail when put under high demand in all instances of computing.
I would build my own....but have you ever tried to build a laptop? lol it might prove to be a little difficult.
