I recently bought a bubble coral, which was pure white at the store, which is why I got it, I already had a green bubble, well in my tank its flor green now like my other one.. This light issue? Or just changes colors when it feels like it?
It was probably a green bubble that was kept under low a light and lost it's color. You put it under good lighting and bam it's true color comes out. I bought a coral color candy(brown) and brought it home and after a week it was bright aqua. I have much better lighting than the LFS. The color in corals is sun screen anyway and if the light is to low it doesn't need the color.
Not sure but I bought a white one b/c I liked the color and in a couple of months it is now a pinkish purple color. I do think it has somthing to do with light and how much zoozanthelle it is harboring in its tissue.
The lighting on the tank at the LFS you bought it at had 300 watts of VHO over a 55 gallon......not too shabby but, not as good as your lights. It could be that your new bubble got its groove (xooanthellae stuff) back when it got a whiff of your lighting. It may also just look a little different tint with your metal halides or something. That bubble was snow white when you bought it though.
