Well I stumbled upon a starfish in my tank today when I was cleaning the glass. I got close to the sand and brushed some up and out shot a star fish in the water. He is the size of a bout a nickle, all grey with five legs and segments of blue all over. He also has really stringy legs. Any ideas? I'm sorry I don't have a pic my camera wasn't around and I can't find him anymore.

I tried looking for him this morning and I can't seem to find him. Maybe I should ask to see pictures of all the common star fish you don't want in your tank?

Yep, peaceful scavengers. Always a welcome hitch hiker.

They come in lots of live rock and with your corals when you get it out of a tank at the LFS. I Have tons of them in my 5month 55gal reef. They are fun to watch and multiple as your tank gets older. Just really start watching your live rock ***) and if you see these little leg things sticking out you have some. Good Luck

I'm not sure where I picked him up from. But it is cool now that I have a star fish, all the ones that lfs sell get to big to fit in a 14g tank. Thanks for the id guys.

I have a lot of them as well, although mine are a cream color. They are fun to watch and should be more visible when feeding the tank.
