Will cockroach spray in my apartment be a problem?

Hey Everyone:
I am thinking about getting a Seahorse setup in a 29gallon aquapod, and I live in a 1 bedroom apartment near NYC. I have 2 questions:
1) They spray for cockroaches in my kitchen every month, and I want to keep my tank in my living room/kitchen area. The tank will never be directly sprayed, but could the vapors in the air get into the fishtank and toxify the water?
2) During the summer, (thanks to global warming), we have those 100+ degree days. During those days, my air conditioning units simply cant compensate for the heat, and my apartment can get quite hot (like 85 degrees). Will this be a major problem if it occurs, and what can I do to prevent my tank from overheating? I understand that seahorses like it a bit on the cool side.
THANKS!

I would not have a tank in any room where any aerosols are used or anything that will cause airborne.
I live in Tucson, AZ were it gets reallt hot and we don't use anything to kill bugs. We have gekkos living around our house which eat roaches and everything so we don't have to use any bug killing and so called ozone depleteing (if you believe in that) aerosols. We get over 100 degrees for 60-90 days in the summer so my worries are mostly tank temperature related.
Oh, by the way Global warming is a natural occurance, it will get worse but then it will get better but not in our lifetimes.

I had a similar question before I started as I don't have roaches but my apartment building sprays for them as well as ants and all sorts of crap every year.
One solution a friend of mine employed with his freshwater aquarium & reptile cages is to go to home depot and buy a large section of plastic tarp. Then basically haz-mat your spray areas off from the rest of your apartment for a period of no less than 1 day. This solution dosn't work for everyone and has its downsides (ie you can't use your kitchen for at least a day... and you have to be creative when you 'air' it out). Most sprays like this are a combo of aerosol spray and liquid which form a kind of anti bug coating on the floors and under appliances. However before doing any of this you have to talk to your apartment building management and tell them what you plan on doing.
as for venting the area afterwards you have to open a window basically and direct airflow directly from those areas outdoors using a series of fans or i guess you could find a way to use the tarps to that end if your clever and industrious.
anyway thats all the info I could pry out of my friend while sitting in his office I hope that helps a little or at least sparks another clever idea that you could employ.

Guys, this wasn't meant to be a debate about global warming. I asked a legitimate question.
But if you must know, every credible scientist that exists today mutually agrees that the earth is warming, and that humans are helping to accelerate the process. The debate is over, unless you work for an oil company or the Bush administration (which are pretty much synonymous).
BTW, thanks to anyone who seriously answered my original question about cockroach spray.

Oh, ok so blame the president is nothing new when you don't have the answer. That's cool... ***)
check out junkscience.com plently of scientist don't agree. the public just hears what the media wants them to so, why not ask the media, they're all experts aren't they?
I'm done

-the spray is a bad idea I would sugest that you tape a large trash bag over the tank during the spray
The left has proved time after time that they are lead around by by what they here by the media. If you dont want this response then dont add incorrect info were it is not welcome

I have seahorses and they cannot tolerate that kind of heat. I have h.kudas, and they are one of the seahorses that can tolerate warmer temps, but you still can't have their tank higher than 78. 72 is the recommended temp. You would definitely need a chiller, and it is my understanding that those are very pricey.

If you have AC and can control the vents to point a few slats toward the tank you can control the temp with that. I am able to do that and I have 5 slats in the vent aimed at my tank. If it gets to cold the heater in the tank kicks on and I am able to stabilize the temp at 78. Some keep theirs a bit warmer so it's a matter of preference.

Do you have seahorses? Or are you talking about tank temps in general?
You can also blow a fan across the surface of the water to keep it cooler.

Just cover the tank with some plastic liner or a large trash bag and you should be okay.

Cover the tank should be fine.....If you know when they are going to spray you could make sure before you leave for work or such that you put in fresh carbon and run the crap out of the carbon for couple days to be on the safe side as well.

they are actually spraying with aresol?? I thought they generally used a tank with a hose/nozzle and usually sprayed the perimeter of the room. If this method is used, there should not be any droplets in the air to get into your tank.
Seahorses are really difficult especially in the feeding department. Chiller would be a must.

Give me Howard Stern any day.... any time, and any place over him. Tune into Howard 100 before you go to Beck.

Oh come on. Get with the rest of the elite.
Once you get Sirius - you won't go back to terrestrial radio.
Howard Stern was my reason to get on the wagon...
