Will hypo kill LR and LS?

I have a blackcap basslet with ich, I cannot catch him for anything. I'm getting ready to just hypo the whole tank, I don't have any inverts in it. If it does kill the LR and LS, that will cause ammonia, right?

Please avoid the use of foul language while on these forums....I edited yours out.
Yes....hypo will kill bacteria and micro infauna on your LR and LS....basically hypo is drastically reducing the salinity then elevating it back.....drastic changes and low salinity will have serious consequences on your LR & LS.

Sorry...since I used symbols instead of the word, I thought it was okay.

Nope....over the years we've had numerous complaints about language like that....and considering the "family" nature of our forums even "reference" to colorful language should be avoided....thanks for your resonse and understanding.

In general we'd like to keep things as clean and problem free as possible for all concerned.

I respectfully disagree with NM that it will "kill" your LR and LS,
It will reduce the bacteria and will greatly reduce if not kill off most of the infauna (worms, pods etc.) in your tank, but some do seem to survive.
But it will not completely kill everything off. I had to do it in a 210 because I had no other options, there were no crabs or snails in the tank it was a 210 FOWLR, It is certainly a last ditch effort and if you can remove the fish and do hypo in a seperate tank that is certainly prefered, but if you do not have choice, you can do it in the main display. You may need to add some cultures of LS back into your tank to re-introduce the infauna, but the bacteria will mutiply rather quickly as the salinity comes back up.

Didn't in the tank I did it on, but it was a big tank, with a good filtration system on it.
